WAC Lighting supports - TREECYCLE at MulchFest!

On Saturday, January 8 and Sunday, January 9, the New York City Parks Department will host the annual MulchFest from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day at locations citywide. Bring your holiday tree to one of 70 designated parks to be recycled into mulch that will nourish plantings across the city or your own garden!

This year, we hope to encourage thousands of New York households to help the environment and the community by bringing their trees to our nearest collection site—there will be 30 chipping sites and 40 drop-off sites throughout the five boroughs.

Remember to remove all lights and decorations before bringing the tree to a MulchFest site. You will have the opportunity to take home your mulch at designated chipping sites.

Please spread the word! As a friend of Parks, we need your help to let your friends and family know about MulchFest! We hope you will share this email with your friends and colleagues.

For more information about MulchFest, or to find the nearest MulchFest site in your borough, visit http://www.nyc.gov/parks/mulchfest.

If you have any questions or would like to get more involved, call (212) 360-1368.

Treecycle and help NYC grow!

On Sunday October 24th, WAC Lighting president - Shelley Wang will be the Grand Marshall for the Gift of Life - Kids for Kids 5k Walk

On Sunday October 24th, WAC Lighting president - Shelley Wang will be the Grand Marshall for the Gift of Life - Kids for Kids 5k Walk held in Morgan Park Glen Cove, NY from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Executive Producer Skeery Jones from Z100 will also be there giving out prizes and awards. The event is not a race, but designed to be both challenging and enjoyable for all. The Gift of Life began as a project of the Manhasset Rotary Club on Long Island, New York back in 1975. Back then Robbie Donno proposed to his club that they bring a 5-year old Ugandan girl to the United States for open heart surgery. This surgery was not available in Uganda and without it she would perish. That single act of kindness thirty-three years ago has grown into a worldwide movement that now embodies itself in fifty programs throughout the world. These programs have treated children from 64 countries and six continents. In October of 2008, GOL programs throughout the world celebrated the milestone of saving their 10,000th child .

This accomplishment was made possible by the efforts of countless Rotarians, volunteers, and healthcare professionals who over the past three decades have sacrificed their time for the common goal of saving a child in need.

CHICAGO– The H Foundation, a non-profit LaGrange, Illinois-based organization dedicated to raising funds for Cancer Research, has raised over $575,000 for Cancer Research, with all proceeds benefitting the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. The funds were raised primarily during last month's GOOMBAY BASH at Chicago's Navy Pier. Over 1,200 people attended, over 100 people volunteered, and over 1,000 people donated money to this cause.

According to John Rot, co-owner of Horton's Home Lighting and Chairman of The H Foundation. “Our tenth year party broke an all-time fundraising record. Thank you to the thousands of you who supported our cause and donated to the Goombay Bash. It was a memorable evening, with extremely remarkable results."

These companies have well-exceeded their goal of $50,000 to support The H Foundation and cutting edge Cancer Research.

The annual Goombay Bash, what has become one of Chicago's largest charity fundraisers, and the industry is stepping up to the challenge of supporting the foundation at a higher level than ever before.
